My origin story:
Every character has an origin story.
Mine begins when I was young. Specifically, when I got my hands on the VHS recorder my family used to capture home videos. That first time I hit the record button… well, that was the first day of the rest of my life.
I often ask myself, why I’m here? Here on the internet, racking up screen time, when I could be out and about living. Don’t get me wrong—I am committed to living a fulfilling life. But my version of a fulfilling life has always required Wi-Fi.
Over the past twelve years, I have been relentless in my pursuit of
I started my career fresh out of AP art class wanting to take my art online and become a graphic designer. The formal route to becoming a graphic designer required a lot of patience and the ability to spell correctly, so I took a different path. My friend let me download a version of Adobe PhotoShop from their hard drive. I took every opportunity I could to figure out how to use that software.
I found myself in the entrepreneurship and innovation club in college trying to make logos for everyone’s startup ideas. Soon after that, I found myself knocking on the doors of small businesses trying to create their websites.
Around the same time I was expanding my digital skillset into photo and video, I discovered Zoella’s channel on YouTube and how comforting watching content of people with British accents can be. Then I discovered Pinterest, which led me to Bossbabe, which led me to Gary Vee and through that journey I learned every thing I could about online business, branding, marketing and more.
My curiosity and ambition motivated me, but there was something at the core of my relentlessness.
Over time, I realized it was my value of connection. my desire to maintain connection. my fear of losing connection. my effort to connect to everyone for validation but myself.
The internet acclerated all of that. But you know what it really taught me? there was no such thing as a unique experience.
